Green Synthesis of Gold and Silver Nanoparticles Using Opuntia dillenii Aqueous Extracts: Characterization and Their Antimicrobial Assessment

In the present study, gold (Au) and silver (Ag) nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized from aqueous extracts of Opuntia dillenii, characterized by various advanced techniques investigated for antibacterial antifungal potential. Phytochemical screening O. dillenii showed presence alkaloids, betacyanin, saponins, tannins, flavonoids, phlobatannins. The characterizations metal NPs performed such as UV-visible spectrophotometer, FTIR (Fourier transform infrared) SEM (scanning electron microscopy) EDX (energy-dispersive X-ray). Through application advance techniques, spectrophotometer bands absorbance AgNPs AuNPs at 420 nm 525 range, respectively. spectra both also appeared in range 4000-400 cm-1. was textural morphological characteristics shape, size distribution, surface structure. Elemental analysis recorded synthesis Au AgNPs, which confirmed its purity. extract their a clear zone inhibition against E. coli, S. aureus, K. pneumonia, P. aeruginosa bacteria T. viride, C. albicans, krusei, A. niger fungal species.
